In the name of Allah

دُعَاءُ أَوَّلِ الْعَام

A Du‘a for Beginning the Year

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيم ، الحَمْدُ ِللهِ ربِّ العَالَمِين ،

In the name of Allah the Merciful the Compassionate, praise belongs to Allah the Lord of the worlds;

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ على سيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ صَلاةٍ تَمْلأُ خَزَائِنِ اللهِ نُوراً وتَكُونُ لَنا ولِلْمُؤْمِنينَ فَرَجاً وفَرَحاً وسُروراً ، وعَلَى آلِهِ وصَحْبِهِ وسَلِّمْ تَسْليماً كَثيراً .

O Allah, bless our master Muhammad with a blessing that fills Allah’s vaults with light being for us and all the believers a source of comfort, joy and happiness, and bless his family and companions, and grant abundant peace to him, his family and companions.

 اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الأَبَدِي الْقَدِيمُ الأَوَّل ، وعَلَى فَضْلِكَ الْعَظيمِ وَكَريمِ جُودِكَ الْعَمِيمِ الْمُعَوَّل ،

وهذا الْعامُ الْجَديدُ قَدْ أُقْبِل ، أَسْأَلُكَ الْعِصْمَةَ فِيهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ وَأَوْلِيَائِهِ ، والْعَوْنَ عَلَى هَذِهِ النَّفْسِ الأَمَّارَةِ بِالسُّوءِ والإِشتِغالِ بِمَا يُقَرِّبُني إِلَيْكَ زُلْفَى يَا ذَا الْجَلالِ والإِكْرام ،

O Allah, You are the Eternal, the Ancient, the First, Your overflowing is vast, Your generosity certain and universal, now that this new year has begun I ask You for protection from Shaytan and his friends and help against this soul that commands to evil and to busy myself with all that draws me closer to You, O Lord of Majesty and Generosity.

وصَلَى اللهُ تَعَالَى عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلِّمْ . اللَّهُمَّ فَرِّجْ عَنْ أُمَّةِ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَارْحَمْ ضُعْفَ أُمَّةِ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ اللَّهُمَّ اجْبِرْ كَسْرَ أُمَّةِ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ . اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْ أُمَّةِ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ . اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ في الأَوَّلِين وَصَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ في الآخِرِين وَصَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ في المَلأِ الأَعْلَى إلى يَوْمِ الدِّينِ وَسَلِّمْ تَسْلِيماً كَثِيراً .

The blessings of Allah, the Most High, be upon our master Muhammad and upon his family and companions and grant them peace. O Allah, send relief and comfort to the ummah of our master Muhammad and send mercy upon the weak among the ummah of our master Muhammad; O Allah, mend the broken among the ummah of our master Muhammad. O Allah, protect the ummah of our master Muhammad. O Allah, bless our master Muhammad in the beginning and in the end of all matters, and bless our master Muhammad in the Exalted Heavenly Host until the day all debts fall due (i.e., at the end of time when we stand before our Lord), and grant him most abundant peace.

بِسْمِ اللهِ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ بِسْمِ اللهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ بِسْمِ اللهِ اسْتَعَنْتُ بِاللهِ بِسْمِ اللهِ اعْتَصَمْتُ بِاللهِ بِسْمِ اللهِ لا يَسُوقُ الْخَيْرَ إلا الله بِسْمِ اللهِ لاَ يَصْرِفُ السُّوءَ إلاَّ الله بِسْمِ اللهِ عَلَى نَفْسِي وَوَلَدِي بِسْمِ اللهِ عَلَى أَهْلِي وَمَالي بِسْمِ اللهِ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ أَعْطَيْتَهُ رَبِّي إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ .

In the name of Allah, what Allah wills; in the name of Allah, I place my complete trust in Allah; in the name of Allah, I seek assistance with Allah; in the name of Allah, I seek protection with Allah; in the name of Allah, no one brings the good except Allah; in the name of Allah, no one averts the bad except Allah; in the name of Allah upon myself and my children; in the name of Allah upon my family and my wealth; in the name of Allah upon everything You have given me my Lord, surely my Lord is upon a straight path.
